Lily Weiss-
Fine Artist
Lily graduated from Concordia University in 2021 with a BFA in Studio Arts, where she developed a strong passion for multimedia work. After graduating, she began working in the film industry, gaining experience in costume design, production, and programming at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her recent work includes the feature film Fitting In (dir. Molly McGlynn), starring Maddie Ziegler, Emily Hampshire, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, which premiered at SXSW and TIFF in 2023 and earned a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In late 2023, Lily briefly stepped away from film to study Curating Galleries and Museums at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, England. She has returned to working full-time in film production, with her artistic style heavily influenced by her love of cinema—especially in her use of colour, composition, and pop culture references.
Lily combines traditional techniques with new technology, creating work that is meant to be enjoyed by anyone, not the elite few. As a nod to this idea, the stuffbylilyw logo features a depiction of the iconic Manneken Pis Sculpture in Brussels. The 16th century sculpture is part of a fountain that was originally the town's main source of clean water. The true story behind the fountain’s subject matter remains a mystery, inspiring various legends about a peeing little boy unitying and saving the city. Manneken Pis has become a symbol of the city's rebellious, joyful, and cheeky spirit—which is exactly the kind of energy that stuffbylilyw is trying to capture. As much as we need art to explore difficult and serious issues in our world, we also need art to make people smile and not take life so seriously sometimes. Stuffbylilyw is all about bringing art into everyday life—whether it’s a print, a tote bag, or a t-shirt. Lily’s goal is to create versatile, meaningful objects that make people smile and help them see art as something to live with—not just look at.
